The Pet Industry

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA), 68% of U.S. households own a pet, which equates to 84.6 millions homes and 45% of U.S. households own more than one pet. In 1988, the first year the survey was conducted, 56% of U.S. households owned a pet as compared to the 68% of present day.

This year services and pet products sales are expected to reach $72.13 billion in United States. The main businesses are food, vet care, supplies, grooming and boarding. However, not all businesses are the same and not all prospect owners qualify to jump in specific businesses. Some segments are regulated by Government agencies or require specific licenses.
